Tuen Mun Hospital
 Scope of work
  • To replace Tuen Mun Hospital their Nortel SL-1 PABX System.
 Project Delivery
  • INFA has integrated 7 voice and data sub-systems including PABX, DECT, Call Management System, In-house Chinese Paging System, Voice Mail System, Interactive Voice Response System and Telephone Management System.
  • The first phase was completed in 2003.

PABX

  • We supplied and installed an Alcatel OmniPCX 4400 telephone system with initially 2,200 extensions and more than 200 trunk lines and scalability to 5,000 users for future expansion.
  • The PABX is the core of the whole integrated solution that provides all voice communication within and outside the hospital.
  • It also acts as a central node for linking all other sub-systems.

DECT

  • Digital Enhanced Cordless Telephone (DECT) provides mobility in communication. Tuen Mun Hospital is the first hospital in HK to deploy DECT wireless solution on a large scale. DECT is the proven technology that gives minimal interference to medical equipment and other mission critical systems.
  • 270 radio base stations are installed to enable doctors and nurses to communicate with hand-held DECT handset and remain totally mobile.
  • Short Message service (SMS) development is in progress.

Call Management System

  • We supplied an intelligent system that can initiate, control and monitor paging calls in the hospital.
  • The system repeats calls and automatically escalates calls to supervisors if they are left unreplied within a set timeframe, or page the doctor located from the roster. Communication between doctors and nurses is greatly improved.
  • Calls can be initiated either by telephones via PABX from Paging Operators or by 70 nurse consoles connected to the hospital's computer network.

In-house Paging

  • We provide full coverage for the hospital by use of 450 Chinese pagers for porters and supporting staff.

Voice Mail System

  • Voice messaging solution through the PABX is provided to all telephone users. User can retrieve messages either on campus or off campus.

Interactive Voice Response System

  • Under the system, hospital information can be provided on the voice bulletin board for access by the public via telephone.

Telephone Management System

  • This allows easy updating of the telephone services profile such as directory numbers and call forward settings.

Short Message Service

  • This allows the hospital staff to send text messages to doctors and nurses DECT wireless handsets.

A total Solution Provider

  • As a total integration and seamless solution provider, Infa delivered design, supply, installation and test and commissioning of the systems and is also providing after-sale services like training and maintenance.
